Just to share a little information about me, as a painter, I look at myself as a student, focused on learning the language of color, the language of light, and the language of the earth, landscape, and image. All of this is for the purpose of expressing my experience of being alive and what it now means and has meant to me. Looking back, this focus began in my childhood growing up on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. There I was surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. This gave me a very deep connection to nature, the feeling, images, light, and color it presented.
A bit later in life while in college, I toured Europe and was deeply affected by the art I saw in the museums and galleries there. I also lived in Paris for several months and was particularly moved by the Impressionist painters. I spent many hours in the Jeu de Paume Museum in the company of their masterpieces. As a result of this experience, after returning to California I began my formal training in drawing and painting as I felt a strong desire to be able to express my life experiences through art. The paintings that are presented here on my website are the most recent expression of those experiences.
